China has rallied to honor and remember national heroes on Sept 30, the first Martyrs’ Day. On the morning of that day, activities honoring martyrs were held in Martyrs’ Park of Lijiang.

Luo Jie, Lijiang Party secretary, attended the memorial activities and gave a speech. Zhang Zejun, vice-Party secretary and acting mayor of Lijiang, also attended the memorial activities. Yang Haodong, vice-Party secretary of Lijiang, hosted the activities.

“Martyrs are the pride of the Chinese nation, we should enlarge the spirit of those martyrs,” said Luo.

“Party members and cadres should inherit and carry forward martyrs’ pursuits of grand ideals. Young students should establish the lofty ideal of communism and study hard to better serve society. The people should vigorously carry forward the spirit of patriotism and make a contribution to the construction of Lijiang,” Luo added.

Luo also insisted that Lijiang’s various departments should pay more attention to care about martyrs’ families and actively solve problems for those families. At the same time, officials should mobilize social forces to care about martyrs’ families to enjoy the respect of the entire society.

After, the group visited the monument to the martyrs and offered flowers.
