5596 Street opens in Lijiang

“5596 Street,” a commercial street incorporating shopping, tourism, culture and recreation, was officially put into operation on April 29 in Lijiang.

Located in the Old Town of Lijiang, the project covers an area of 2.27 hectares in the buffer area of the Conservation of the Old Town. A total of 200 million yuan ($32.02 million) was invested during the project’s construction period, which lasted from April 2012 until October 2013. The street was designed in old-world style with carved beams and painted rafters. It is adorned with richly ornamented buildings. and a good choice for a stroll.

“5595” was designated as a high-end and premium quality tourism culture and recreation street, with an aim to upgrade the cultural recreation quality in the town as a whole. Meanwhile, it seeks to improve the business environment through unified investment promotion and standardized management.

The street was equipped with an underground intelligent parking lot, the first in Lijiang, covering an area of over 7,000 square meters.

From the street, it takes only five minutes to reach Mu’s Residence, one of the most popular tourist spots in Lijiang. It takes 20 minutes to reach the Old Town of Suhe. Moreover, the street sits next to Zhongyi market, the largest market in Lijiang with huge visitor volume.

The project’s investment invitation was initiated from July 2012. To date, there were 45 stores in five categories on the street, including popular domestic and international chain brands, stylish bars, local flavor food, handicrafts, and cultural specialties and quality recreations.
