Experts specializing in the Naxi ethnic group, cultural experts from Kunming and reporters attended the opening ceremony of an exhibition on the Dongba culture of Naxi people at Kunming Museum on Sept 26.

The exhibition, which is jointly organized by Lijiang Museum and Kunming Museum, will last for one month. The organizers worked on the project for about a year, with the aim of arranging an exhibition tour in museums around the country, so as to help people learn more about Dongba culture and further promote Lijiang as a city of diverse ethnic cultures.

Kunming residents had the opportunity to enjoy the exhibition during the National Day holiday, and organizers hope the event will also help promote exchanges and cooperation between museums of Kunming, Lijiang and other cities.

The Dongba culture of the ethnic Naxi group dates back over a thousand years, and is considered to be an important aspect of China's historical and cultural heritage, with hieroglyphics, scriptures, paintings, music and dance.
