The city of Shenyang, Liaoning province has announced that vehicles have become its economic base, pointing to last year, when it produced 1.06 million cars, with the auto parts output factored in, amounting to about 205 billion yuan ($32 billion), or 19.3 percent of the city's total industrial output, Shenyang Daily reports.

The city's auto industry has seen some remarkable progress in going green and intelligent, with its new energy auto output reaching 1,796 units worth 1.2 billion yuan in added value, and helping the city with its industrial structural improvements.
