The passenger train, which has a top speed of 350 km/hr, was made by the Changchun Railway Passenger Vehicle Co in the city of Changchun, the provincial capital. Work on the high-speed trains, China's first bullet trains with all intellectual property rights, began in 2012, with the help of university research institutes and enterprises to solve the many technical problems. The whole project was completed this past June.
Liang Zhichao, chief engineer on the project, said that they followed very strict design and manufacturing rules for greater safety, economy, energy conservation, and environment protection, and came up with some innovations to lower the cost of the cars, and that the next move is to put the train through a 600,000-km test run for further improvements.
