National emergency medical teams from across China are now withdrawing from Hubei province as the epidemic subsides.

The first group of medical workers from Zhangjiagang returned to the city on March 17. All of them will be quarantined for 14 days before returning to their homes.

Six medical workers from the respiratory and critical care departments of Zhangjiagang First People’s Hospital and the Zhangjiagang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine have served honorably in the battle against the novel coronavirus over the past 50 days.

They worked at the First People's Hospital of Wuhan Jiangxia district, where all COVID-19 patients had recovered and been released.

There are currently still 37 medical workers from Zhangjiagang working in Hubei.

The total number of confirmed infections in the province stood at 67,800 as of midnight on March 17, while the number of daily new infections has dwindled to single digits since March 11, according to the National Health Commission.
