A volunteer project to help children started in Fenghuang town of Zhangjiagang, in Jiangsu province.

Five social workers are responsible for the project and will help the first group of six primary school children.

The project has received donations of 10,000 yuan.

Before the project began, the social workers set up separate files for each student, with information about their studies, home life, and psychology.

Activities planned for the children include spring outing, cooking lessons and a talent show.

The one-year project is expected to enhance the children’s interest in learning, ease their social pressures and improve their family relationships.

The project will be promoted after a one-year trial run.
