A family banquet for Spring Festival will be held in Zhangjiagang of Jiangsu province on January 25, 2014. Families will get together for lunch, watch performances and receive presents.

Fifty migrant worker families and 50 migrant workers who are single are expected to attend the banquet, all for free.

Any qualified family or worker can apply at the city’s volunteer association, by phone at 58153655 or 58157255, and online at the website www.zjgyouai.cn. The first 50 families and workers will be invited.

Tan Debao, an official at a related government department, said migrant workers contribute a lot to the city’s development. They are also members of the city and should be rewarded. He hoped the banquet could help them feel at home.

“We want to provide an opportunity for communication for migrant workers during Spring Festival, to make them feel at home at a time when every family should get together but can’t due to work.”
