Bicycle race to highlight environmental protection

More than 200 competitors will compete against each other at the Ninth "Wudangzhao Cup" National Bicycle Race, which is to kick off on Sept 10 in Baotou, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, Baotou Daily reported on Sept 9.

The race will take place in the Shiguai District of Baotou -- a district that has hosted cycling races for the past nine years. The race will take place under the theme of environmental protection and will be a time trial. Starting in the Xiguitu New District of Shiguai District, covering a distance of 45.5 km, the race will end in Wudang Lamasery back in the Shiguai District.

Prize money of up to 10,000 yuan ($1500) is available for the winner, and the top 30% of each team will be awarded a prize.

This year's race will be jointly hosted by the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Sports Federation, Baotou Sports Federation and the government of Shiguai District.

The "Wudangzhao Cup" National Bicycle Race is a competition highlighting environmental protection and cultural tolerance, including mountain bike racing and other cycling activities. It is now ranked 32nd among the 100 most influential bicycle races in China.
