Changsha's first "My Favorite Folk Invention" Competition came to an end after over five months of demonstration, appraisal, and voting.

Sponsored by the Changsha Science and Technology Journalism Society, the competition received over 110 entries from 37 primary and middle schools, three vocational schools, and social figures, of which 104 works were inventions and six were handcrafts.

After presentations, online voting, and several rounds of evaluations, 11 works won the first prize.

One of the winners was a pupil from Shahuqiao Primary School. Due to frequent incidents of children falling from buildings, he decided to do something to prevent those cases. After searching for information and asking teachers for help, he invented a window that can achieve both protection and air flow. When pulling the window upwards, the protection device descends due to its own weight with the help of a pulley.

The youngest prize winner was a 9-year-old pupil, and the oldest was 75 years old.
