Testing finished on the second runway at Changsha county's Huanghua International Airport on Dec 29.

The new runway is 3.8 kilometers long and 60 meters wide and will be put into service in March this year. Construction began in December 2013, with navigation equipment and lighting added in 2016.

The runway will enable Huanghua International Airport to accommodate wide-body aircraft such as the Airbus A380, the largest passenger aircraft in the world, making the airport first of its kind in Central China.

With the addition of the second runway, Huanghua now hopes to almost double its traffic to 33 million passengers a year, and handle 380,000 tons of cargo.
