Hubei receives 178m tourists in first half of 2013

Hubei received 178 million tourists in the first half of 2013, marking a year-on-year increase of 13.33 percent, and tourism-related income reached 137 billion yuan ($22.32 billion), a year-on-year increase of 14.08 percent.
Hubei has been promoting special rural tourist attractions with local features, such as a sort of calendar which shows the flowers that can be seen during each of the 12 months of the year.
In addition, many travel agencies, scenic spots and hotels have launched promotional discounts during the summer vacation.
More than 300 tourist attractions in Hubei offered discounted prices during holidays in the first of the year, and hotels in many scenic attractions were fully-booked, especially during the May Day Holiday.
The Tourism Bureau of Hubei Province aims to promote integrated tourism and to increase regional cooperation, so as to promote the tourism brand of the province.
