Sculptures, an important cultural infrastructure in Huaqiao, highlight Huaqiao’s features and characteristics, attracting many local citizens and visitors.
The 25-meter-tall “flower tree” is made up of wild Chinese viburnums, Kunshan’s city flower, with diameters ranging from 1 to 3 meters. The “flower tree” presents a picture of colors – pink, green, yellow, white, etc.
Wendy H. Moy, Chinese-American designer of the sculptures said, “The biggest gist in its conception is harmony. The large size, special design, graceful color and harmonious hues should match Kunshan, a flourishing city.”
It is said that the flower tree is a twin sister of the giant, colorful 17-meter-tall flower sculpture at Yan’an Lu and Gubei Lu in Shanghai, based on a design by Korean artist Jeong-Hwa Choi.
