Bicycle touring, also known as cyclotourism, involves sightseeing by bicycle. Riders travel long distances, favoring pleasure over speed.
Bicycle touring can vary from single day supported rides - rides to benefit charities where provisions are available at stops along the route - to multi-day trips where riders must carry their own food and equipment.
In 2008, Hangzhou put 2,800 free bicycles into service as part of its green mass transit campaign. So far, the number of bicycle service outlets has reached 2,000, and 50 million bicycles are readily available to visitors.
