Double Sixth Festival

June 6 of the lunar calendar is a grand traditional festival for the Buyi ethnic group in Anshun.

On the date, each family in a Buyi village makes rice cakes and triangular or square zongzi, a traditional Chinese rice-pudding, to commemorate temples and ancestors. Men drink self-made alcohol together, while women get together with their friends. The young people dress up and play musical instruments for their loved ones. The elderly sit under ancient trees and talk about the old days.
