Since the implementation of regulations on big data development and government data sharing, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province and also known as China's Data Valley, has seen promising achievements in the big data industry.

Guiyang attaches importance to talent cultivation and supports universities to establish big data related institutes. By 2019, Guiyang has attracted 170,000 big data related talents, which will support the future development of its big data industry.

To date, Guiyang has planned 105 key projects worth 72.51 billion yuan ($10.1 billion), covering the areas of smart applications, public services, and building construction. Among which, 20 projects totaling 2.2 billion yuan had begun construction in March.

In 2018, the main business income of big data enterprises reached 100 billion yuan, increasing by 22.4 percent, while the telecommunication business income reached 46.3 billion yuan, increasing by 140 percent.

During the first half of 2019, the income of software businesses above the scale of 5 million yuan had reached 8.16 billion yuan, increasing by 18.31 percent, while the telecommunication business income had exceeded 331.03 billion yuan, increasing by 75.8 percent.

Guiyang will keep working on the overall development and scale of the big data industry, making full use of fund supports, introducing big data related talent policies, as well as accelerating the construction of Shubo Avenue (Big Data Expo Avenue).
