The Guizhou provincial government reports that its 168 pharmaceutical companies' output was worth 37.14 billion yuan ($5.94 billion) in 2014, for a 23.2-percent growth over the previous year and that traditional Chinese medicine did 27.49 billion yuan in business, or 74 percent of the total provincial medicine output last year.

At the same time, at least 47 of its medicines did more than 100-million yuan worth of business, 11 more than for last year, while eight products went above 500-million, and two, above a billion. And, more than 100 companies are expected to do more than 200-million yuan in business in 2015, 12 more than for last year.

Guizhou now has six medical parks in the cities of Guiyang, Zunyi and Qiannan, which contained 79 enterprises in 2014, with an industrial output value of 18.92 billion yuan, accounting for more than 50-percent of the province's overall pharmaceutical output value and it is one of four major traditional Chinese medicine bases in China, with 4,802 species, accounted for 40 percent of the nation's total, and putting it in second place in China.

While developing its resources, especially medicinal plants, it works hard to develop its health industry as well as big data and science and technology for pharmaceutical industry support. The provincial government spent 608 million yuan on 168 medical companies and 25 medical research institutes and colleges in 2014, up 22.6 percent from the previous year.
