The total import and export volume of Hechi's foreign trade increased by 69.4 percent year-on-year to 1.09 billion yuan ($165.78 million) in the first two months of 2021.

Hechi's export volume in January and February grew by 5.8 times to 390 million yuan, while its import volume expanded by 19.6 percent to 700 million yuan.

Officials from Hechi Customs noted that, since the start of the year, the city has launched a series of preferential policies in area like taxation to relieve the burdens on local companies.

"The first two months of the year used to be the off season for foreign trade, as the two months are close to the Spring Festival," said Zhang Yanyan, the executive director of Tian'e Guanglin Ecological Science and Technology Development. "With the help of Hechi Customs, our company has gained the title of the demonstration base for export products this year, and we are scheduled to have negotiations with business delegations from Hong Kong and Macao."

Innovative measures such as remote video inspections for specific products such as bamboo grass and silk have been taken by Hechi Customs to ensure the smooth export of Hechi's distinctive products.

Hechi is located in the northwestern part of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and the southern foothills of the Yungui Plateau.
