Hechi invests $28.23m in highway maintenance in 2020

Hechi in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region invested a total of 184 million yuan ($28.23 million) in highway maintenance in 2020, achieving a 69.33 approval percent of its national and provincial trunk highways, according to the city's highway development center.
The Hechi highway development center, formerly known as the Hechi highway management bureau, is in charge of the maintenance of 2,424.79 kilometers of the national and provincial highways that is within the scope of the city.
It has won rewards for its outstanding contributions from the autonomous region in 2020, which was the only one of its kind at the municipal level in the whole region that received this honor.
It has repaired 1.2 million square meters of roads in 2020, accounting for 103.39 percent of the annual road repair plan.
It has completed 12 major and medium road repair projects, with a total investment of 91 million yuan. In addition, four highway safety and life protection projects were finished, with a total investment of 14.38 million yuan.
Hechi has devoted efforts to strengthening bridge and tunnel maintenance management, investing a total of 6.47 million yuan.
In addition, the center invested more than 7.5 million yuan for flood rescue last year, clearing about 90,000 cubic meters of landslides, as well as clearing seven damaged and disrupted roads, to guarantee traffic safety.
In terms of road greening and road appearance improvements, a total of 23,000 cubic meters of deposits was cleared, more than 5,800 cu m of silting was removed from culverts, as well as 300 km of trees were removed from the road curves that affect traffic safety.
