Since autumn 2016, all preschoolers and high school students from registered poverty-affected families in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region are exempt from charges for three-year preschool education or tuition fees.

Combined with the fee-free compulsory education and secondary vocational education in Guangxi, the region now offers 15-year free education for children from poverty-affected families.

In the 19th CPC National Congress that rounded off on Oct 24, it's been agreed that priority should be given to education to speed up its modernization and to develop education that satisfies people's needs.

To realize that goal, Guangxi is making efforts to improve in at least five aspects: preschool education, compulsory education, high school education, higher education and the training of teachers.
