Zhangye holds international air show and convention

More than 40 aircrafts took to the skies on Aug 26 to 28, as part of the first Silk Road International General Aviation Convention which took place in the city of Zhangye, Gansu province.

The three-day event saw aerobatic flight displays, a general aviation expo, summit and forums on aviation development, as well as a signing ceremony on exploring Zhangye tourism. The Gansu General Aviation Association was also established.

During the convention, experts discussed issues on short-distance passenger and cargo transportation, general aviation airport construction and management, the aviation industry and industrial parks.

Mao Shengwu, Party chief of the Zhangye addressed the convention, he spoke of an “aerial Silk Road” and said the event aims to display technological achievements on general aviation.

Mao added that Zhangye held the goal of building a platform for countries along the Belt and Road Initiative region to cooperate on aviation and tourism.

The event was co-organized by the Zhangye city government, Gansu Provincial Highway Aviation Tourism Investment Group Co and the Chinese Flight Test Establishment.

Zhangye Danxia General Aviation Airport will host the event annually.

Participants at the event included delegates from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, General Administration of Sports and Aviation Industry Corporation of China, 17 aviation enterprises and journalists from 26 media agencies.

Guests were also shown around Zhangye city’s economic and technological park, national wetland park and general aviation enterprises.
