The Gahai Wetland in Gansu province is the source of the Taohe River, an important branch of the Yellow River. It is 3,500 meters above sea level and lies on the northeastern border of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
Covering an area of 57, 846 hectares, the wetland plays a significant role in ecological safety and water source protection of the Yellow River basin.
