Baiyin Xiqu Economic Development Zone

The Baiyin Xiqu Economic Development Zone is one of five provincial development zones in Gansu province approved by the provincial government in July 1988. With an area of 20 square kilometers and 50,000 residents, the zone has attracted investments from many famous enterprises from developed areas in the country, including Faw Jiefang Automotive Co, CIMC Group, Fujian Panpan Food Co and Nanjing Yurun Group.
The zone has introduced more than 90 projects with a total investment of 5.76 billion yuan ($945 million). Of the total, nearly 3.1 billion yuan was put in fixed assets. To date, it has realized 13.77 billion yuan in output value, contributed 715 million yuan in taxes, and created jobs for more than 8,000 people. There are 93 administrative service units and 38 enterprises above a designated size in the zone.
The zone has made great progress. Its 50 projects earned 781 million yuan in 2007, while 25 enterprises in the zone saw total output value of 3.26 billion yuan and paid taxes totaling 282 million yuan.
