Fujian province and Taiwan will join hands to train cyclists and issue certificates of lead riders in Pingtan, according to a ptnet.cn report.
The announcement is one of two new measures involving Pingtan, rolled out by the Fujian Free Trade Zone (FTZ) on Aug 24.
Fujian hopes to increase cross-Straits cultural and sports communication by introducing cycling, a popular sport in Taiwan, and cultivating elite riders qualified to be lead riders during cycling events.
Sixteen lead riders were certified in Pingtan on June 27, marking the first cooperation between Fujian and Taiwan on cycling management.
The other measure to be implemented will facilitate the entry of Taiwan-registered vehicles in Pingtan.
Qualified vehicles with filed records will take much shorter time at customs inspections in Pingtan, and trucks will be allowed to enter Pingtan after declaration of cargo.
