This is the festival's fifth consecutive year. In last year's event, over 60,000 citizens and tourists took part. Notably, one of last year's activities involved more than 20,000 people, but, as the media pointed out, showed a high quality of civilized behavior in that participants left the area clean and without litter.

Besides the traditional activities to mark the Dragon Boat Festival, there will be 16 more activities to highlight the 5th Jinjiang Dragon Boat Folk & Culture Festival, including creative arts, the establishment ceremony of the Anhai Cultural and Creative Development Association, a signing ceremony showing the collaborative relationship among the Anhai Cultural and Creative Development Association, the Tainan Culture Association and the Anping Cultural and Educational Foundation, an "Elegant Anhai" old photograph show, and an exhibition of private artifacts.
"We hope to seize the opportunity of the festival to promote Anhai's tourism resources and to build Anhai's own cultural brand," said Li Zhiqiang, Party secretary of Anhai town.
