Overseas Chinese donates 2m yuan for nursing home construction

Wu Sijin, an overseas Chinese in Philippines, donated 2 million yuan ($322,200) to build a nursing home at Wucuo village, in the city of Jinjiang, Fujian province, said officials.

With a total construction area of 1,080 square meters, the nursing home will cover an area of over 530 square meters. Construction has been carried out recently at the site and is expected to finish at the end of this November.

Wu Changbiao, director of Wucuo village, informed that the nursing home will be named after Wu Changbiao's father as Tiande nursing home.

Wu Sijin, now in his 80s, has always been dedicated in supporting Jinjiang's public welfare and educational undertaking, including donated 2.1 million yuan ($338,310) to pave roads with cement in Wucuo village and build up Light Stadium in 1994, and donating to the assemble hall in Dongwu Primary School. Also, he made great contribution to the construction of Yangxi Primary School and Yangxi Middle School.

In addition, there will be a two and a half floor building beside Tiande nursing home to serve as the senior center, which is donated by local dignitaries with nearly 1.1 million yuan ($177,100). The two buildings will be constructed and put into use simultaneously.
