For the past 20 years, 60-year-old Wei Kesheng has given local residents in Jixia village of Fujian province a free haircut.

Jiaxia villagers are known for their long hair because getting a haircut is a daylong affair. Many have to walk or take a bus to Luxia town for a haircut, which is inconvenient for many elderly.

Wei Kesheng started his free barber service 20 years ago. He bought barber's tools and learned from professionals how to cut hair. He practiced on his family members to improve his skills.

Wei has cut hair more than 10,000 times and his act of kindness won acclaim around the village. Village authorities gave him a set of new tools this year, including an electric razor, hair driver and apron, to encourage his volunteer service.
