The Zhangzhou Volcano Island, also called Binhai Volcano Natural Biological Scenic Spot, is located in the Jiangkou village of Zhangzhou, and it’s a national-level geopark. There are three scenic areas, Xiangshan Mountain, Linjin Island, Nanding Island, and three bathing beach, Qisha Bay, Jiangkou Bay, and Houcai Bay, among which, the Linjin Island and Nanding Island were selected as Top 10 most beautiful sea islands in China in an activity initiated by the “China’s National Geography”.
Fujian Hakka earth buildings, or Tulou, listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, crystallize the industrious lifestyle of the Hakka and their wisdom. The sturdy buildings of earth still maintain their ancient style deriving from the Central Plains and their local flavors.
Wuyi Mountain, famous for its green water and red mountain, were inscribed in December, 1999 by UNESCO as World Heritage Site. It is also National Excellent Tourism City, Historic City, National Key Scenic Attraction and National Nature Reserve.
The Meizhou Island, located in the 42 kilometer southeast away from the center of Putian, is the second largest island in the city. It has advanced marine fishing and breeding industry due to the advantageous climate there.
There are more than 30 places of interests in Meizhou Island, such as “Oriental Hawaii” Jiubaolan Gold Beach and “Small Stone Forest” Eweikun fantastic rocks, especially the Matsu Temple, which is worshiped by 200 million Matsu believers and is thus honored as the Oriental Mecca.
