New Zealand Week kicks off at Xi'an Horticultural Expo

With a special dance performed by indigenous Maori people, New Zealand Week got underway at the Xi'an Horticultural Expo. Visitors to the Expo can enjoy five days of great entertainment from the Pacific island nation.

Red feathers, dramatic make-up, and a quick tempo... This is how the Maori dancers express their best wishes for country and kin to the folks in the audience. They also hope the people have a strong enough personality to make their dreams come true.

The Maori people here have practiced this kind of dance since their childhood.

The tribe chief of the Maori said they wanted to come to the Horticultural Expo to communicate with Chinese people as the idea of the international event is consistent with their own ideas about living and development.

The 5-day New Zealand Week will conclude on Friday.
