Beijing hosted a conference on national policy consultation and information communication and cooperation, Oct 23-24, with Long Guoqiang, director-general of General Office of the Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC), taking part along with Zhao Shukai, director-general of DRC's Information Center, and the vice-director-generals Zhang Hong and Hou Weining, to chair the conference.

In addressing the gathering, which brought in people from research centers, academies and institutes across the country, Long emphasized the importance of exchanging information among think tanks now, and described new needs and expectations, while Zhao reviewed the development of information communication and cooperation and the emphasis of recent work and needs for future work.

The participants discussed increasing information exchanges, improving cooperation, building a think tank network, and the methods of filling in information. They also had some valuable suggestions for future work later.
