Weeklong book fair includes second copyright auction

The 2015 Shanghai Book Fair began on Aug 19. The weeklong event attracted more than 500 publishers nationwide, bringing more than 150,000 book titles. About 700 activities were planned during the fair to focus on literature and the culture of reading. As the guest province this year, Jiangxi has a pavilion themed "Copyright is the motive power of cultural industries". The second China movie and TV drama literature copyright auction was held in conjunction with the fair.

Lanzhou seminar focuses on IP financing services

A seminar on intellectual property financing services was held in Lanzhou last week. Organized by the State Intellectual Property Office and Gansu provincial IP authority, the event attracted delegates from many West China provinces and regions. Officials said they will improve related policies and seek innovative financing models to expand the IP financing business and reduce the cost and risks of IP-pledge loans.

Family prosecuted for selling counterfeit seasonings

A father and his two sons were recently prosecuted for selling counterfeit seasonings. The family started the illegal business in 2012. They purchased seasonings, including gourmet powder, chicken extract and millet spirit, and sold them carrying fake labels of famous brands in the countryside near Bengbu. They trio had earned more than 100,000 yuan ($15,615) by the beginning of this year, when local police raided their base and found more than 100 boxes of counterfeit seasonings.

Training advises how to do business in United States

Training was held in Changzhou on Thursday and Friday for local IP authorities, IP service organizations and companies that do business in the United States or plan to do so. Three senior IP lawyers from US law firm Goodwin Procter LLP gave classes that included strategies for Chinese companies when applying for US patents and how to deal with US Section 337 investigations. The program aimed to help local companies better compete and control risks in overseas markets.

Home-developed jet completes demo flight

China's first home-developed ARJ21-700 short/medium-range regional jet completed a demonstration flight on Sunday from Beijing to Nanjing in Jiangsu province. The jet has eight first-class seats and 70 economy-class seats, with toilets at both the nose and tail. The first shipment of the model will be delivered to Chengdu Airlines, and will be used on routes between a number of major cities nationwide, including Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Chengdu and Wuhan.
