Le Coq Sportif Won the Trademark Lawsuit

The long-standing trademark dispute between Le Coq Sportif and Mo Ri KeShoes &Clothes company (Mo Ri Ke) had come to an end recently. The dispute officially began when the Trademark Office of the State Administration for Industry & Commerce of the People's Republic of China (the Trademark Office) denied the registration applied by Mo Ri Ke in August 5th2013, for that the trademark applied is similar to that of Le Coq Sportif. Dissatisfied with the above decision, Mo Ri Ke filed an administrative lawsuit at Beijing First Intermediate People's Court against the Trademark Office. However, the court sustained the original decision. Later, Mo Ri Ke appealed against this verdict. Recently, Beijing Higher People's Court delivered the final judgment, supporting the first instance verdict, which implied the Le Coq Sportif had finally won the lawsuit.

Le Coq Sportif, a famous French brand established in 1882, is now owned by Descente Co. Ltd. In 2014, Le Coq Sportif (Ningbo) Co., Ltd was authorized to be the exclusive agency enjoying the trademark license rights in Mainland China.
