A practical activity -- "science and technology carnival experience day" -- was held on Oct 17 at three primary schools in Zhongguancun -- the Zhongguancun, Huaqing and Baiwang schools. The event offered pupils various opportunities to explore myths in science and mathematics by themselves.
Teachers at the Beijing Haidian Extracurricular Education Association joined in the classes and taught students the processes and principles of the scientific works they needed for the day's activities.
Different technical missions were set for the six grades according to ages and learning abilities. The first-graders were asked to observe plants, second grade pupils made simple flight vehicles, and third graders built easy bridges. The fifth grade students produced nests for birds.
The science carnival experience gave students a positive chance to practice science. They learned the importance of exploration and teamwork and experienced the magic of the physical world.
