Chi Yanming graduated from the Department of Precision Instruments at Tsinghua University with a bachelor's degree in 1990. He received an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) from Tsinghua University in 2005.

Chi founded Lanxum in 1999. The company was listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in October 2009. As one of the first 10 listed companies on ChiNext, a Nasdaq-type exchange board for high-tech start-ups on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, Lanxum is a top domestic company providing solutions and services for China's office information systems.
