1. Geographic Location

The province consists of 16 cities and 105 counties, county-level cities and districts. It is listed as the 22nd province in China in size with a territory of 140,000 square kilometers. It has a population of 70 million.

Being the sub-center of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration, Anhui has become a major scientific research and education base, a modern manufacturing industry base, and a comprehensive transportation hub of China.

The total traffic mileage of expressways totals over 4,200 kilometers, whilst the total mileage of railways constructed in Anhui is 4,000 kilometers. The province's high-speed railway totals 1,330 kilometers.

"Hefei New Eurasian Continental Bridge" consists of an international freight railway that links to Hamburg via Kazakhstan, Russia, and Poland.

Hefei Xinqiao International Airport serves 14 outbound and overseas routes.

2. Economy

72 of the "Fortune 500" companies have set up 120 enterprisesin Anhui province.

Anhui Conch Cement, the largest cement production enterprise in Asia.

Hefei is also home to the largest home appliance production base in the country.

China's largest home appliance production base is in Hefei.

Tongling is home to the largest production base of the cathode copper in the country.

Chinese brand vehicle exports from the province have been first in the nation for 13 consecutive years.

An agglomeration demonstration area of industrial robots, a dominant industry in Wuhu, Ma'anshan and Hefei.

3. Scientific and Educational Strength

Anhui province has developed some of the most innovative resources, and is one of the two pilot provinces on innovation construction in China with numerous famous universities and academies such as USTC and the Hefei Substance Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Five key national scientific engineering projects, 22 national laboratories and national key laboratories are also based in Anhui. The province is notably leading the world in the field of quantum communication and voice-over technology.
