Blasts, gunshots heard in Afghan capital

Sounds of two explosions were heard at 5:45 am and 5:47 am Friday morning in Kabul, capital of Afghanistan. Sporadic gunshots were heard later.

A policeman on the spot said, "The attack is targetting a UNAMA (United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan) office there."

Vice President Fahim's house is close to the UNAMA office, Indian embassy consulate and Kabul Intercontinental Hotel where was attacked on June 28, 21 people were killed and 18 injured.

The Afghan national security forces have blocked the site, with two NATO-led International Security Assistance Force helicopters hovering over. Media are not allowed to get close.
