Technical failure might cause Russia plane crash

VLADIVOSTOK, Russia - Technical failure or pilot errors are blamed for the incident of An-12 cargo plane which disappeared in Russia's Far East on Tuesday, most likely crashed, local authorities said.

The cargo plane, with 11 people aboard, flew from Magadan to Keperveem and requested an emergency landing at the Magadan airport due to the engine malfunction before it disappeared from radar screens, RIA Novosti news agency quoted Russia's Far East Regional Emergency Center as saying.

The 11 people aboard the plane included crew members and local residents. So far, the plane has not been found yet and no information about those people are available.

The emergency center said that more than 140 people and 20 vehicles are involved in the search of the missing aircraft.

It was reported that Russian officials in Far East said that the plane had crashed in a remote forest area and all 11 people aboard might have been killed.
