Villagers Liu Junhai and Liu Yintang got a combined state compensation of 1.18 million yuan ($172,820) on Wednesday over a wrong conviction that left the two innocent men behind bars for 15 years, yzdsb.com.cn reported.

Liu Junhai and Liu Yintang were arrested in an arson case in early 1988 that killed four and injured one in Xianguan village of Linzhang county, Hebei province.

The uncle and nephew were acquitted in 2003, but they finally received their compensations seven years later.
