Fujian province is briefly named Min, with Fuzhou as the provincial seat. Historically, Fujian is the cradle of important cultural events such like the Silk-road on the Sea, Zhenghe's Journey to the West Oceans etc., as well as a center of commerce and trade. Fujian’s economy has developed steadily in recent years. Its industry is based mainly on light industry with a full range of industrial categories which include metallurgy, coal, machinery, electronics, textile, paper-making and tea-making. Agriculture is based on grain production with rice as the main crop and sugarcane, cole, peanut and tobacco as the main economic crops.

In 2008, Fujian’s GDP totals 1.3800 trillion yuan.

 福建省，简称闽，省会城市福州，在历史上是“海上丝绸之路”、“郑和下西洋”等重要文化发源地和商贸集散地。福建经济近年取得稳步发展，工业以轻工业为主，门类齐全，兴建了冶金、煤炭、机械、电子、化工、纺织、造纸、制茶等。农业以生产粮食为主，水稻是主要作物，经济作物以甘蔗、油菜、花生、烟草为主。

2010年福建生产总值13800亿元。

Situated in the southeast and on the east coastline of China, Fujian is the well-known hometown of overseas Chinese. It has long-standing and the tightest relations with Taiwan. Located at the communication center between the East China Sea and the South China Sea, the province provides rapid and convenient transportation. It has rich port resources, with many natural harbors. Fujian is also a famous tourism place in China, having a lot of increasingly popular tourism brands. As a province of complex geologic structures, Fujian has found 118 kinds of mineral types (including sub-types) with verified reserves of mineral resources, with its reserve and quality of quartz sand topping the country. With rich forest resources, the province is one of the country’s key forestry regions.

福建地处祖国东南部、东海之滨，是中国著名侨乡，与台湾源远流长，关系最为密切。福建居于中国东海与南海的交通要冲，交通快速便捷，拥有丰富的港口资源，天然良港诸多。福建同时也是中国著名旅游胜地，拥有一大批影响日益扩大的旅游品牌。福建地质构造复杂，矿产资源中已探明储量的矿种有118种（含亚矿种），石英砂储量、质量冠于全国。森林资源十分丰富，是全国重点林区之一。
