Gaocheng noodle is a unique local specialty in Gaocheng county, Shijiazhuang, Hebei province. In ancient times, the noodle was made as a tribute to the royal family.

The noodles are made from high quality flour, oil and salt. Through a special process, each noodle is formed with a hollow heart and is uniformly thin. It is said that the noodle is so thin that it can even thread a needle.

Gaocheng noodles are enormously popular throughout China and are exported to many countries around the world.

The noodle was listed as an intangible cultural heritage in Hebei province in 2013.
