Stella McCartney used her sister as inspiration for her latest collection.

The British designer claims her eldest sibling Heather - who was involved in London's first generation punk scene before her parents moved to an organic farm - has transitioned in style over the years and ultimately inspired the theme throughout Stella's Autumn/Winter 2014 collection.

She told WWD: "I was thinking about the interruption for my sister and what that must have been like, taking quite punky, black-and-white edgy stuff and softening it."

The punk style is notably featured in a series of jackets embroidered with graphic drawings by artist Gary Hume, a houndstooth patterned dress and oversized shawls and coats with fringed detailing.

Androgyny is a prominent feature throughout the collection with a number of masculine silhouettes taking the form of tailored suit trousers and boyfriend-fit blazers, while feminine styles included a silk polka dot dress.

The collection also introduced McCartney's sustainable wool partnership with the Nature Conservancy and Ovis XXI. The pairing will see the designer use wool from the sheep of Patagonia, South America which is produced in accordance with the conservancy's aim to prevent overgrazing in a bid to preserve grasslands in the region.
