选手作品:未来媒体的三大特点

Before we could realize it, we have already been thrown into a period that we could hardly live without the mass media. What will the media be like in the future?

First of all, I firmly believe that media in the future is going to be more interactive, social and all around us. In a world integrated economically and connected by Facebook and Twitter, an increasing number of people are impacted, and interested in the events happened around the globe.

It is not likely that media in the future will continue it's role playing in a monodrama. On the contrary, it will be gradually acknowledged as two-way collaboration in which the boundary between producer and consumer will grow increasingly blurred. That means, journalists, youtubers, bloggers, twitpicers, together they will work hard to create the best possible news coverage. Under this circumstance, reading the news is no longer passive, it's active. More and more people can contribute to the media by shaping and participating in the news reporting, they can help change the world around them as well.

Secondly, the media is taking the advantage of advanced technology, making news in future a combination of mobility, customization and instantaneity. New media will appear in multiple guises on multiple platforms, delivered not only by trusted journalists but also by individuals newly enabled by the internet revolution.

For example, hardly could we imagine at the very beginning that Twitter has become a real-time news distribution platform that no news company can afford to neglect nowadays. There is no doubt that in the future Twitter will surely become an even better tool for reading and reacting to breaking news, getting news into people's hands immediately.

At last, media is about to develop into a multifunctional platform—for communities to share what they know and what they think of, for journalists and editors to add value to that exchange, for viewers to find limitless new information, for news brands or news agencies to create comprehensive relationships with the public. Media plays different roles at different time as well as different places, everyone can benefit from new media, and look for what they want to get.

No matter what media in the future will be like, it is clear that it will be vital to us and will finally become part of our daily lives.
