"For me it was a personal thing because I think that because my father [Richard] had been, in England, a very well-known comedy actor [before his untimely death]. I think that I was very attracted to comedy and so I believe that I actually tried to steer clear of it, just so I didn't go down his path. I wanted to go down my own path. And then on this movie I actually turned a year older than my father got to, and it was a very important moment. I thought, 'I made it to 32 and I want a comedy.'"

And she couldn't have chosen a better group of comic actors to team up with, for besides Sandler, "Click" has a stellar cast of very funny people including Christopher Walken, Henry Winkler, Julie Kavner, and Jennifer Coolidge. Sandler, Walken, and Winkler joined her on the red carpet at the premiere, along with the film's other familiar faces - David Hasselhoff, Sophie Monk, Katie Cassidy, Rachel Dratch - and a host of other Hollywood types ready to see just how amusing "Click" really is.

Embracing her witty side turned out to be a natural progression for Kate Beckinsale, although she insists that Adam Sandler and her other co-stars were a big part of making her jokes work and her job easier.

"It was just a blissful and lovely time for me," she smiled. "It was perfect. It was a blissful marriage to Adam, and I was really kind of sad when it was over."

The experience may be gone, but the film will live forever, of course. To see if Kate Beckinsale can make you laugh, be she young and beautiful or old and slightly less pretty, check out "Click," which opens June 23.
