Vice premier calls for international co-op on development
Chinese Vice Premier Huang Ju said at World Economic Forum that China strongly supports and actively participates in international cooperation on economic and social development. "Our world is undergoing profound changes. We should work together to explore the best way to development and seek solution to difficult problems," Huang said at the 2005 annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, switzerland. International economic and technical cooperation is going underway, Huang said, but factors unfavorable for peace and development, such as local wars, terrorism, arms proliferation, epidemics, energy bottleneck and the disparity between the North and South, still exist. "We should adapt ourselves to the changing times and strengthen cooperation in our common endeavors to build a better world," said Huang. China would like to take this occasion to call upon the international community to enhance cooperation, to establish a resource-conserving economy, to work toward a just and equitable international economic order, and to offer more help to developing countries, Huang noted. "It is the responsibility of the international community and the requirement of sustained development of the world economy to help developing countries develop themselves," the Chinese vice premier said. Huang arrived at the Swiss ski resort town of Davos on Friday and is expected to leave for Zurich later on Saturday. |
