Northeast Dalian builds national software park
( 2002-07-26 09:55) (1)

Construction began on Thursday on Neusoft Dalian International Software Park.

The park, with a total investment of 1.2 billion yuan (US$145.3 million) and a floor area of 450,000 square metres, is co-invested by Neusoft Group, a major domestic software and solution provider, and Dalian Software Park Co Ltd, one of the 10 largest national-level software bases.

The park aims to be an international software co-operation base by attracting global IT enterprises and offering software research and development opportunities, marketing of software, education and training, and enterprises incubation.

The specialized park will play an important role in promoting co-operation in the software industry among China and other countries, Liu Jiren, CEO of Neusoft Group, said at the park's foundation-laying ceremony on Thursday.

Owing to Dalian's geographic advantage, the park will attract many Japanese enterprises, he said.

He estimated that more than 85 per cent of the park's overseas companies will come from Japan.

Under the plan, the park will consist of Neusoft software development base, Neusoft Institute of Information Technology, an international co-operation industrial area and an IT club.

It is expected to accommodate 15,000 staff members and achieve an annual sales volume of US$300 million by 2006.

The construction of the park is a major part of Neusoft Group's strategy of internationalization, Liu said.

Multinational co-operation, sharing of human resources and technology, and joint development of the market will create a win-win situation necessary for the IT industry's development.

Liu said the establishment of the Neusoft Dalian International Software Park will help the growth of Neusoft's overseas business and improve the company's competitiveness in the domestic market.
