Chinese cultural festival opens in Lebanon's Tripoli

A Chinese cultural festival opened Thursday at Al-Jinan University in north Lebanon's port city of Tripoli.
On the sidelines of the festival, the University honored Professor Zhu Weilie from Shanghai International Studies University by granting him an honorary doctorate for his works on the Arabic language.
Bassam Barakeh, president of Jinan University, hailed the bilateral relations between Lebanon and China, calling for enhancing them on all levels.
He added "it is our duty to continue communication, exchanges and enhancing relations between the Arab countries and Lebanon from one side and China from the other side particularly in the cultural and higher education fields."
For his part, China's Ambassador to Lebanon Wang Kejian thanked Jinan University for this honoring, adding "we support strongly the cooperation between the Chinese and Lebanese universities."
