Nowadays, Nuo mask dance has become more of an entertainment than worship, and was included as China's intangible cultural legacies.

According to the 2010 national population census, about 60,000 Maonan people live in Huanjiang, accounting for nearly 60 percent of the total Maonan population in the country.
