EU seeks ways to team up with China investors
The European Union is seeking Chinese investors to work with the European Fund for Strategic Investments to co-finance the bloc's energy and digital infrastructure, a top EU official said.
Chinese investors - State-owned and private - are welcome to co-invest in projects, or create separate joint platforms dedicated to a specific sector, such as infrastructure, said Jyrki Katainen, the European Commission's vice-president for jobs, growth, investment and competitiveness.
Katainen made the comments on Sunday, one day ahead the 5th EU-China High-Level Economic and Trade Dialogue. The EU team was led by Katainen, and the Chinese team by Vice-Premier Ma Kai.
