Spending by China's disciplinary bodies drops

China Daily | Updated: 2014-01-06 07:52

Spending by China's disciplinary and supervisory organs dropped significantly in 2013 as the country's anti-extravagance drive continued.

Last year, money spent on receptions fell by 61 percent, meetings by 59 percent, and printing by 13 percent, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection said in a statement on Saturday.

The drops are the result of an "eight-point" anti-bureaucracy and formalism rule introduced in late 2012 telling Party officials to reduce pomp, ceremony, bureaucratic visits and meetings.
