The interior designer of Hi Doing, a new club located at the southwest corner of Dongsi Shitiao and the Second Ring Road inside the Nanxincang International Plaza, seems to have followed the number one rule of Beijing discos: People like shiny things.

An international in-house DJ crew mans the turntables and a line-up of foreign DJs are already booked for future parties.

With show-off bartenders flipping bottles off their elbows, waiters with lighters in hand scanning for unlit smokes and remixed Billboard hits pulling bobbing bodies to the dance floor, Hi Doing is a fairly upscale club that still hasn't revolutionized Beijing's nightlife scene.

The big draw for the laowai ethnicity is a special "foreigner"member card that gives half-price mixed drinks all night long. The application process involves having a long foreign nose and asking the bar tender for a card.
